“So what this means to the community is that we are just able to expand our reach. We’re already serving Routt, Moffat, and Grand counties, and we are seeing an unprecedented growth within the last three years and this just allows us to continue that mission of serving those neuro-diverse youth and supporting them and their families.”

Mendisco says they were able to purchase the new home for Yampa Valley Autism with help from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation. They paid off that $300,000 bridge loan on Thursday, Dec. 11. Also, $403,000 was raised from individual donors.

Mendisco says Yampa Valley Autism has served 152 neuro-diverse individuals in Northwest Colorado.

The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners has a workshop Monday afternoon with the Department of Human Services. It’s regarding proposed changes by the State of Colorado.

The Routt County Humane Society says an anonymous donor has covered all adoption fees for all dogs at the shelter. This includes spay/neutering, vaccines, and microchips. It’s all paid for. So if you’re thinking of getting a pet, now is the time to stop by the shelter on Critter Court and meet your new best friend in time for the holidays.

Those needing food for the holiday season can receive some food at a Pop-up Mobile Food Pantry Friday afternoon. It’s organized through Steamboat Ski & Resort Corp., in collaboration with Food Bank of the Rockies, Boys & Girls Club of Northwest Colorado, Heart of Steamboat Church, and Yampa Valley Community Foundation. All community members are invited to drive by and get food, from 3-5 p.m. Friday afternoon in the Meadows parking lot in Steamboat Springs.
