It’s been a busy weekend at Yampa Valley Regional Airport for holiday travelers. This weekend, approximately 3,430 people flew in to the local airport in Hayden. The number of outbound passengers over the weekend was around 4,093.

You may see smoke up on Emerald Mountain today. A prescribed burn is planned, weather and conditions permitting. Steamboat Springs Fire Department will be there to monitor the burning which is part of an ongoing fuels-mitigation effort to reduce wildfire risk and improve community safety. The fire department says it is not an emergency and asks that you do not call 911.

You can now reserve a parking spot in the Upper Knoll parking lot at Steamboat Resort. Rates start at $22 a day and must be made by 10 p.m. the night before. If you organize a carpool through the Steamboat Carpool app, you could also be eligible for a guaranteed parking space in the Knoll Lot. You must have three people in your car and 25 pre-arranged spots will be available each day.
The Knoll Lot will still be a free lot, operating on a first come, first served basis. But now there will be a limited number of carpool and reservation spaces available every day.
Spaces are limited right now because of Music Fest. The MusicFest tent is up in the Knoll Lot through Jan. 15. Parking spaces will again be limited during WinterWonderGrass, Feb. 20-March 8.
The lower Knoll Triangle lot closes Monday, Jan. 5 through Jan. 10.
There is still free parking in the eastern half of the Knoll Lot, and down at the Meadows Lot. Paid parking is available in the Gondola Square Parking Structure.

Colorado Attorney General Phil Weiser is discussing affordability in Steamboat Springs Monday, including housing and childcare. He’ll be in Bristol Hall Room 204 at CMC in Steamboat Springs at 4 p.m. tonight (Monday, Jan. 5).

The Craig branch of the Moffat County Library is having a winter book sale. The library is back is back to regular hours today, after the holidays. Hours today and tomorrow are noon to 6 p.m. for the Craig branch.
