Multiple vehicle crashes have happened already this week in Northwest Colorado.

On Tuesday morning, there was a fatal Crash on Highway 9 in Summit County, at Ute Pass Road north of Silverthorne. It was a head-on collision with one person dying at the scene. Highway 9 was closed for just over three hours. Colorado State Patrol has not released any names, and they are investigating.

Colorado State Patrol says four vehicles were involved late Monday night in a crash on Rabbit Ears Pass, closing the highway in both directions for about three hours. One person was transported to the hospital. Two trailers, a semi, and a CSP patrol car were involved the trooper was not hurt.

Another semi hauling a loaded hazmat tanker trailer crashed in Rio Blanco County, on Highway 139, just north of the Garfield County line also on Monday. This is south of Rangely. The Kenworth failed to negotiate a curve and went off the side of the road, down a steep ravine, and started going up the other side before rolling and spilling its load. The driver, who was from Parachute, went to the hospital with minor injuries. Colorado State Patrol is asking for help from anyone who might have seen the crash. Call 970-249-4392 and reference 4B260024.
