UPDATE from CDOT Monday morning.
CDOT will be doing a westbound lane shift between Mile Point 146 and MP 144 on US 40 beginning around 9 a.m.
This will not be a full road closure and a full traffic control team will be in place to direct traffic.
The recovery team should be on scene by 10 a.m. and we are hoping to have traffic flowing normally by 2 p.m.
We just ask for patience and to drive slowly and safely in the area since we will have people out and moving around for the recovery.

Traffic will be alternating on Rabbit Ears Pass starting at 9 a.m. Monday morning. Travelers can expect delays. It’s because of a vehicle recovering on Hwy 40 on the Pass just east of Steamboat Springs. Colorado Department of Transportation says it is expected to take most of the day.
The CDOT snowplow went off the side of the road on Friday morning, while plowing. No one was hurt and no other vehicles were involved.
CDOT worked on getting the plow out but then decided to wait until Monday so as not to damage the plow, or close the road for a long amount of time for recovery efforts.
CDOT writes, “The plow is in a position, safely off the side of the road and out of the way of traffic. Crews will continue to assess the location and conditions for a more favorable and safe recovery. Another plow has been reassigned to operate in the area so that road clearing operations can continue without interruption.”
