No wolves will be brought to Colorado this winter, according to Colorado Parks and Wildlife. A statement from CPW says the focus will instead be on maximizing the restoration effort and sustaining the current gray wolf population in Colorado.

The Colorado Cattlemen’s Association responded with a statement that they, “…view this decision as a constructive step that reflects the need for the state to pause and address the ongoing concerns raised by livestock producers and rural communities.” The entire statement is on our website.

This includes the Range Rider Program, hiring a Wolf Damage and Conflict Minimization Manager, bringing in additional wildlife damage specialists to help staff, expanding the conflict minimization tools such as fladry and scare devices, completing more site assessments, and having more interagency training.

Also, CPW confirmed that they will not release any more details on the location of the most recent death of a female gray wolf, only that it was in “Northwest Colorado.”

The Colorado Attorney General’s office has set up a new tool online to report any complaints of misconduct by federal officers or agents. It says to report anything you think is unlawful or that has harmed you. The attorney general’s office says the complaint may or may not result in formal action but it will help to ensure federal accountability, and help document concerns and detect patterns of potential misconduct by federal agents. It also says if you are in immediate danger, call 911.

The Town Board of Oak Creek meets at 6 p.m. tonight. How to police Oak Creek is again on the agenda, since the last police chief resigned after 22 days on the job. Will the position be re-advertised, will a search firm be used, or will Oak Creek develop an agreement with the Routt County Sheriff’s Office.

Agenda

The Town Council of Hayden meets at 5:30 p.m. tonight. One agenda item is a presentation from Northwest Colorado Health.

Papa Murphy’s Take ‘n Bake Pizza in Central Park Plaza has a sign on its door that says, “Thank you, Steamboat.” If you search for the local Papa Murphy’s on their website, Steamboat Springs is no longer there. The website listing for Steamboat Springs also says, “Permanently Closed.” And no one answers the phone. We’ve reached out to corporate with some questions.

“I believe people should come to the show to see just a wonderful high school romance production. It’s also a big step in SSHS to do something so small yet very advanced for our school, especially with the audience sitting on stage.”

That’s what’s called a Black Box show which has the seats and the audience watching from the stage. The show starts tonight and runs through next Tuesday. Tickets are available online only at SteamboatSchools.net.  Look for the Box Office tab.
