Winter Carnival is next week. Registration for the street events for kids ages six to 14 years old is online at 10 a.m. this morning, Friday, Jan. 30. That link is through the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club website or Street Event Registration.

Yampa River Botanic Park has been awarded a Level 1 Accreditation by two international groups, recognizing the park’s commitment to professional standards in arboriculture and tree conservation.

The Senior Social Center in Craig is hosting their annual Baked Potato & Salad Bar, from 4-6 p.m. today (Friday, Jan. 30). That’s at the Yampa Building. It’s free but donations are appreciated. Please give them a call to RSVP. 970-326-3188. They’re also hiring a Senior Social Center outreach coordinator, if you’re interested.

The Steamboat Symphony Orchestra is hosting a Winter Gala fundraiser. It is at 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 30, at Bud Werner Memorial Library in Steamboat Springs. The event will have entertainment, live music, fine dining, and high-end auction items. Ticket information is at SteamboatSymphony.org

STARS Ranch is hosting a free event called, “One Love, One Community.” It’s a night of food, friends, prizes and possibilities. The Ski Town U.S.A. celebration sendoff for the 10 Steamboat athletes headed to Italy for the Olympics in February is Saturday. It starts at 5:30 p.m. at the base of Steamboat Resort. Past and current Olympians will all be there and there’s a drone show. Shuttles from the Meadows Lot will be running.

The Ski Town Showdown is a Texas Hold ‘em Charity Poker Tournament to benefit The Veterans Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. Saturday night.

There’s a big hockey game Saturday night, with Routt County First Responders up against the Steamboat Ski Patrol. That’s at 7 p.m. at Howelsen Ice Arena. It’s a benefit for a second sheet of ice and the Routt First Responders Foundation Memorial Scholarship.

Join the fun for the 12th Annual Ski4Parkinson’s event. This is a fundraiser that supports our local Parkinson’s Community. Come ski, snowshoe and enjoy a delicious brunch at Haymaker Nordic Center, with a chance to win some great prizes. The event is Sunday, Feb. 1. This year’s theme is Going for Gold.

Cross Country skiers with Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club competed at the largest cross country junior race in the United States recently, at Soldier Hollow, Utah. Some of the top podium finishes from Steamboat Springs athletes were from Antigone Loomis, Sophia McGinnish-Smith, Sawyer Landers, and Bode Rhodes.
