Brown Ranch is being discussed again today, from 9 a.m. until noon, with a contracted facilitation team and representatives from the City of Steamboat Springs, Routt County, and the Yampa Valley Housing Authority. Details on time, location, and joining via zoom are on our website. For information about virtual participation (via Zoom), visit the city’s online agenda center.

February 25

  • When: 9 a.m. to noon
  • Where: Carver Room Conference Room, Centennial Hall, 115 10th Street

A presentation called, “Talk Saves Lives: An Introduction to Suicide Prevention,” is at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25, at the Steamboat Grand. It’s presented by Steamboat Resort in partnership with REPS, which is Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide.

Talk Saves Lives is the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention’s flagship education program. It provides an overview of the scope of suicide as a public health issue, the research on warning signs and risk factors, and the strategies that can help prevent it. SSRC and REPS are offering this training as part of SSRC’s Mountain Mental Health Matters Month initiatives throughout February.

According to REPS, Colorado consistently ranks among the top states in the nation for suicide rates, and rural mountain communities like ours face even higher risk due to isolation, access to lethal means, and barriers to care, which makes these community education events powerful tools in preventing suicide.

All community members are invited. Parking is free for the event, from 4-7 p.m. in the Gondola Square Parking Garage.

U.S. Congressman Jeff Hurd is hosting a Telephone Town Hall at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 25. UPDATE: The dial-in number for this event is 833-858-0012.
