Steamboat Resort has announced it will close on April 12, a week earlier than originally scheduled. The Happy Trails Snow Report says season snowfall this year is at 155 inches so far. The record season for snowfall at Steamboat Resort was 2007-2008 with 489 inches of snow.

Closing weekend activities include the 44th Annual Cardboard Classic on Saturday, April 11, and the Splashdown Pond Skim on Sunday, April 12. The pond skim moves up from the base area to the Sunshine area at Rendezvous Lodge.
The Bud Light Rocks the Boat Free Concert Series is on both days, closing weekend.

Howelsen Hill is also closing early. The last day is this Sunday, March 22, which is also Ski Free Sunday.

K.C. Hume signed a contract with the City of Craig Wednesday to be the new City Manager.
“I appreciate the city council’s confidence in approving the City Manager agreement and my opportunity to serve the community of Craig. And I want to thank the council for their thoughtful discussion surrounding the future of our city and how I can play a part in that future.”
Hume starts April 20. Hume retired after 33 years with the sheriff’s office and 11 years as Moffat County Sheriff. He more recently worked as superintendent of operations, safety, and security at Yampa Valley Regional Airport. Hume replaces Peter Brixius, who is retiring.
The City of Craig is hosting an Open House about Vacant Property. It is from 5-6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 18 in City Hall Council Chambers.
The Town of Yampa has a Town Board meeting tonight and all are invited. The Colorado Wildfire Resiliency Code is on the agenda, as is the South Routt Housing Authority Board appointments. Time for Audience Participation and comments is always on each Town Board Meeting agenda. The Yampa Town Board meeting is at 6 p.m. at Crossan’s/Town Hall on Main Street in Yampa.

This Saturday is Meat-In Day in Craig, hosted by the Moffat County Cattlewomen. It’s from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Alice Pleasant Park. Local businesses and restaurants in Craig are participating this week, where if you go there, you can be entered in a drawing to win a bundle of meat.

North Routt Community Charter School has formed a committee to find a new Head of School. They’ll be interviewing candidates on Saturday, March 28. Ten have applied for the job. They’re from New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Texas, and California. One person from Oak Creek, and one from Clark have applied as have two people from Steamboat Springs.

The Steamboat Springs School District is asking for volunteers to help with the interview process for finalists for the position of Superintendent of Schools. There is an Interview Training Session March 31 and finalist interviews are April 14. If interested, apply before March 20. The link is on our website or at SteamboatSchools.net
