The National Weather Service in Grand Junction has issued a Fire Weather Watch in our area below 9,000 feet for gusty winds, low relative humidity and dry fuels. It’s in effect through Wednesday afternoon. Another Fire Weather Watch has been used for Thursday afternoon. Fires will catch and spread quickly. Use extreme caution with any outdoor burning.
The Routt County Board of County Commissioners meets today. One agenda item is approving a bid to paint the Tree Haus Bridge. The county received six proposals, ranging in price from $90,000 to $754,000. Public Works has selected Sloop Enterprises in an amount not to exceed $105,836 for the job. The county attorney is also requesting a Temporary Assistant County Attorney for 18 months, to help alleviate the current workload. Commissioners will also interview for members of the Routt County Planning Commission. Twelve have applied. Six positions are open, with four seeking reappointments.
Moffat County Board of County Commissioners are meeting today. Agenda items include appointments to the NWCO Regional Opioid Abatement Council. Other agenda items include a report from Heather Brumblow in Finance, Bruce White in Road & Bridge about a bid recommendation for a Snow Plow Truck, Jeff Comstock from Natural Resources, and Rachel Bower from HR about appointing an Interim Director of Moffat County Housing Authority.
Commissioners are also meeting with the Moffat County Board of Public Health today for their first quarterly board meeting today. Tuberculosis and measles updates are on the agenda
Craig City Council meets tonight. The first workshop is at 4:30 p.m. about the Meadowood Apartment Project Easement Agreements. Then at 5:15 p.m., there is a council workshop about the MARCIA Car. That’s the customized train car built by the Pullman Company in 1906, named in honor of David Moffat’s daughter, Marcia. It sits on Victory Way in Craig.
The regular council meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Kandee Dildine is on the agenda to present about the Downtown Business Association and events planned for this year. Dan Davidson with the Museum of Northwest Colorado will present the Museum Report for 2025.

From the west side of Moffat County, Dinosaur National Monument is open, from Hwy 40 to the Harpers Corner Trailhead. Echo Park Road is also open. It’s unpaved and 4WD is recommended. Ice is off of Stagecoach Reservoir. Stagecoach is now open to non-motorized, hand-launched, and hand-powered vessels. The boat ramp opens May 1 for motorized boating.
The Steamboat Sailors Girls Soccer team has a home game tonight. The girls host the Summit Tigers at 6 p.m. We’ll be there with the play-by-play on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM and on the Steamboat Radio YouTube Channel, which is all available through our website.
The Girls Lacrosse team is away tonight, playing Summit in Breckenridge.
The Steamboat Girls Tennis team has a match against Mountain View and Loveland at the North Lake Park tennis courts in Loveland today.
