A Fire Weather Watch is in effect through this afternoon, for our northwest corner of the state, and then another one starts up Thursday afternoon. Be aware of gusty winds and dry fuels below 9,000 feet. Fires can catch and spread quickly. Use extreme caution.

Five fire chiefs in Routt County and the Routt County Wildfire Mitigation Council have written a letter to residents about the concern for the upcoming wildfire season, due to historically low snowpack. The fire chiefs suggest to register now for Routt County Alerts, have an evacuation plan, self-evaluate your home and reduce fuels on your property, make sure your address sign on your home is visible from the road. The link to that letter is below.

A network of 27,000 volunteers will be checking their rain gauge daily and reporting it online. It’s for the month of April. Details on how to sign up and how to get a rain gauge are on our website.
