Sign up for your local county alert system. It’s especially important this year as wildfire season approaches.

In Moffat County, Sheriff Chip McIntyre says there is a new Moffat County Alerts system and he asks that everyone sign up, in case of an emergency where you need to be notified. More information and a QR code is  on our website.

The male osprey has flown back to its nest along the Core Trail at Yampa River Botanic Park. It got here Wednesday, according to those at the park, after flying all the way from South America. It will now wait for its female mate to arrive any day now. While the migrate separately, they mate for life. This will be the 11th year the osprey have nested at Yampa River Botanic Park.

 Today are student conferences in the Moffat County School District.

 

 

The 2026 Children’s Health Fair is in Craig on Friday, March 27. These are free developmental screenings for birth to five-year-olds who are not yet in kindergarten. The Children’s Health Fair is sponsored by the Moffat County School District, in collaboration with Memorial Regional Health, Northwest Colorado Health, Connections for Kids, Horizons, and the Craig Lions Club. Screenings are from 8 a.m. to noon at the MCSD Early Childhood Center at 600 Texas Avenue. Contact Terri at 970-824-7457 for an appointment.

A committee at North Routt Community Charter School will be interviewing candidates on Saturday, March 28, for a new Head of School. Ten have applied for the job. They’re from New York, New Orleans, Chicago, Texas, and California. One person from Oak Creek, and one from Clark have applied as have two people from Steamboat Springs.

 

North Routt Community Charter School has received a $25,000 donation from an anonymous donor, for matching funds to build a new playground for the school. It has to be replaced. The school district has also applied for an $876,000 DOLA (Colorado Department of Local Affairs) grant. Reach out to the school if you’d like to also donate. Or email Melem@NorthRouttCharter.org

Friday and Saturday, March 27-28, is the spring ice show by the Steamboat Skating Club called Movies: A Night in Hollywood. Shows are at 5:30 p.m. with a special 1 p.m. matinee Saturday, at Howelsen Ice Arena.

The Routt County Republicans are hosting a complimentary screening of Melania at 1 p.m. Saturday at Wildhorse Cinema.

 

A Routt County No Kings March and Rally is from 2-4 p.m. Saturday, March 28. It is part of a nationwide day of action. The march starts at Hilltop and Highway 40 down to the courthouse lawn, where the rally then takes place.

 

Sunday is National Vietnam Veterans Day. Those in the American Legion Post #44 and VFW Post #4264 want to send a thank you to all Vietnam Veterans, to thank them for their service. Two Routt County solders made the supreme sacrifice for their country: John Vialpondo (U.S. Army 1968) and David Fogg (U.S. Marine Corp 1969).

 

 

Picture your Pet with the Easter Bunny is from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at Steamboat Ace Hardware. Hop on over and bring your pet for a family photo with the Easer Bunny. There is a $15 suggested donation to support the Routt County Humane Society.

 

 

The Waves of Love North Routt Beach Bash is from 3-6 p.m. Sunday, March 29, at the Steamboat Lake Outpost. Money raised is to help Holly and Adam at the Clark Store as they battle cancer. There will be lots of music, food and fun, with a silent auction.

The Steamboat Sailors Boys Baseball team is at a tournament in Gunnison today, with a tournament in Olathe on Saturday.

 

The Sailors Boys Lacrosse Team is on the road Saturday, with an 11 a.m. game against Summit in Breckenridge.

 

The Steamboat Girls Soccer team is at home Saturday, with a 11 a.m. game against Niwot. We’ll be there with live play-by-play on KTYV 105.7 Sports on FM. Watch through the Steamboat Radio YouTube Channel.

 

The Steamboat, Moffat County, and Hayden Track and Field teams are at the Mickey Dunn Invitational at Stocker Stadium in Grand Junction.
