Steamboat Resort has announced it will now close for the season on Sunday, April 5. The original closing date was April 19. Then that date was changed to April 12. Now, it is this coming Sunday. There will be no Cardboard Classic this year. The Splashdown Pond Skim will be on Closing Day, up at Rendezvous Lodge. Register HERE for the event. Bud Light Rocks The Boat Free Concerts will be on April 4, and on April 12.

On Sunday, the Happy Trails Snow Report for the ski area said 449 acres is open with 11 lifts and 32 trails, and a season snow fall of 155”.

It’s estimated that more than 70 No Kings protests and rallies were held across Colorado, including in Routt County and Moffat County.

In Steamboat Springs, those in the march walked along U.S. Hwy 40 from Hilltop to the courthouse in Steamboat Springs, where speeches were given.

In Craig, there was a gathering in the old courthouse lot on Victory Way. Those who were there said people were “rolling coal,” as they were driving by. Craig Police Chief Mike Cochran said he would be checking to see if anything was reported and/or if anyone got a license plate number.
There were more than 4,000 No Kings rallies held nationwide, according to the No Kings organization.

A man from Hayden is in custody after a reported assault between two male roommates at the Pinyon Pine Estates Mobile Home Community in Hayden early Sunday morning. Routt County Alerts issued a shelter-in-place. The Northwest Colorado SWAT team was activated to help try to get the man inside of the trailer out. Chemical irritants were eventually used. Hayden Police Chief Scott Scurlock says 35-year-old Erling Osman Castro was taken to the hospital to be evaluated before being taken to the Routt County Jail where he will face multiple charges.

One person was transported to the hospital after a semi-truck rollover on U.S. Highway 40, just west of Maybell Saturday afternoon. Colorado State Patrol says the call came in at 1:04 p.m. with the crash at Mile Post 45. Highway 40 was closed for just under an hour for the crash and vehicle recovery.
Carly Morris will be the next principal for Moffat County High School. It was announced Friday by the Moffat County School District. Morris has most recently been a principal in Alaska. She’ll start her new job this summer. More details are on our website.

The Routt County Board of County Commissioners has a Work Session Monday. The first workshop is on General Aviation Development regarding Yampa Valley Regional Airport. Then at 1 p.m. Commissioners have their required annual visit to the Routt County Detention Center.
The Steamboat Springs School District Board of Education is holding a special meeting Monday. It’s to review applications for the superintendent vacancy. The meeting is at 4 p.m. in District offices on 7th Street. Agenda
There is a pinning ceremony at 5 p.m. Monday for Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue. Firefighters Doug Bloom and Nate Birdseye will be sworn in. Also being recognized is Doug Satterfield as a new Deputy Chief with Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue. The ceremony is in Centennial Hall on 10th Street.
