Election results are in for the Town of Yampa. Stacey Geilert has been re-elected as mayor. For the board seats, Hailey Shoptaugh will be returning as a town board member. She was originally appointed to fill an open seat when someone moved away, so this is her first time being elected. The other two newly elected trustees are Susan Walker and Brian Ashley. They join Ken Montgomery on the board. Voter turnout for the election was 47%, with 146 ballots. These results are unofficial and should be certified by April 16.

Yampa Valley Housing Authority has a meeting at noon Thursday, at the Combined Law Enforcement Facility on Shield Drive. One action item on the agenda is the appointment of Elliot Lawrence as acting YVHA Executive Director. Also to be discussed is a transition plan and discussion of a search committee for a new Executive Director that will replace Jason Peasley.

The 14th annual Yampa Valley Wellness Conference is today (Thursday, April 9) at the Hayden Center. The conference features speakers and workshops with interactive breakout sessions. It’s presented by The Health Partnership.

“They would ask what’s special about Steamboat and I would say our nose is on our face and not in the air and our boots are planted firmly on the ground. And I think the rodeo contributes to that.”

That’s John Shipley, the Steamboat Pro Rodeo announcer for over 40 years. The first episode aired this week. You can watch it on the Wild Rides TV YouTube Channel.
