A helicopter will be flying over Howelsen Hill all day today. SkyTrak is installing the lift towers for the new Barrows chairlift. Trails and access roads on the Howelsen Hill Face will be closed.
Here’s more from the City of Steamboat Springs.
On Friday, October 8, subcontractors for SkyTrac Lifts will be installing towers for the new triple chairlift via helicopter on Howelsen Hill. The work is expected to be complete by mid-afternoon, conditions permitting.
While the work is being conducted, closures will be in place on the Howelsen Hill Face, as well as, the trails and access roads adjacent to Howelsen Hill. Barricades and signage will be in place, and we ask that all trail users and media spectators, adhere to these closures and follow all posted signage.
If you have any questions, or would like more information regarding Friday’s tower installation, please contact Marketing & Communications Coordinator Emily Hines at 970-871-7031 or email.
The new SkyTrac triple chairlift is made possible through a unique partnership between Smartwool/VF Foundation, the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club, and the City of Steamboat Springs. The new lift is on schedule to whisk skiers/riders to the top of the historic ski area this winter.
