In swimming, members of the Steamboat Springs Swim Team recently competed in the Colorado State Swimming Championships for 14 and under, with top finishes from Ivy Ladrow, Stovin Briggs, and Vaughn Higgins.

Those competing and qualifying for the Colorado Short Course Silver State Meet in DU last weekend were Vaughn Higgins again, Zoe Anfang, and Oliver Catlett.

Steamboat Springs Swim Team Swim Fast at the Colorado State Swimming Championships

Ivy Ladrow, Stovin Briggs and Vaughn Higgins represented Steamboat Springs Swim Team at the 14 and Under Colorado State Swimming Championships in Thornton Colorado, Feb. 25-27. Forty-two teams from all over the state of Colorado swam at the meet. Steamboat placed 29^th overall scoring 63 points from just three Steamboat swimmers.

 

Ivy Ladrow (14)

• Ivy Ladrow placed 11^th overall in the State for the 50 free (25.05), 19^th overall in the 200 free (2:03.41), and 6^th overall in the State for the 100 free (53.94). Ivy narrowly missed qualifying for the 2022 Speedo Sectional Championship meet in Austin, Texas by mere 100ths of a second in her 100 free and 50 free!

 

Stovin Briggs (14)

• Stovin qualified for five individual events in the 13/14 division. He swam personal bests in all but 1 on his events. One the last day of the meet he swam back-to-back events in the 200 fly and 100 free with 15 minutes between races and clocked fantastic times in both events.
• He placed 15th in the state in the 100 fly (57.25), 25^th in the 500 free (5:19.87), 28^th in the 50 free (24.08), 20^th in the 100 free (52.01), and 12^th in the 200 fly (2:12.36).

 

Vaughn Higgins (12)

• Vaughn Higgins qualified for the A final with an amazing 50 back (32.68) and placed 10 overall in the State for 11/12 boys.

Fast Swims for Steamboat Springs Swim Team at Silver State 

 

Zoe Anfang (13), Vaughn Higgins (12), and Oliver Catlett (11) attended the Colorado Short Course Silver State Meet at Denver University March 4-6.

 

• Vaughn Higgins placed 2^nd in the 100 back (1:08.92), 10^th in the 100 IM (1:13.39), 15^th in the 200 IM (2:43.42), 23^rd in the 50 Fly (33.89), and 20th in the 50 free (29.67).
• Zoe Anfang qualified for and swam 7 events. Placed 10^th in the 100 Breast (1:14.71), 4^th in the 100 IM (5:05.10), 12 in the 200 IM (2:24.71), 58^th in the 100 free (1:00.59), 13^th in the 100 Fly (1:05.66), 50^th in the 50 free (27.92) and 8th in the 200 breaststroke (2:41.01).
• Oliver Catlett placed 56^th in the 50 free (31.20).
