Some neighbors in the area of Stone Lane and Hwy 40 are concerned about new development in the area. They have reached out to Steamboat Radio about those concerns.
They were notified of a development plan for Indian Meadows Lot 1 in a letter late last week, with the notice stating that a decision on the application would not be made before Wednesday, March 23.
Bob Keenan, the principal planner with the City of Steamboat Springs says the application is to only reconfigure the access to the old Fairfield Inn that is now Storm Peak Apartments. The only applications under review for this site are an Easement Vacation and a Development Plan which is to move the current access to the Storm Peak Apartments from the front of the property to the rear.
The owner of the property is Gray Stone LLC. They are trying to get the site ready for future development. The city’s website says Phases 2 and 3 are for two hotels. But Keenan says nothing has been officially submitted for hotel development. Keenan says any proposal for future hotel development on these lots will require a subsequent application and review by the planning commission. If they do get an application, it will be on the city’s website and a new sign will be on the property. Any other property owners within 300′ will get a mailed notice.
