Be careful in the backcountry right now. There is an Avalanche Warning for the Steamboat area. Ethan Greene is the Director of the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.
“Right now we have an Avalanche Warning out which means that people should avoid traveling in avalanche terrain. That’s on steep snow-covered slopes or underneath them. We’ve had a lot of snow and it going to continue over the next few days and maybe throughout the rest of the week. So people need to check the avalanche forecast before they go out into the backcountry and make sure they are going places that are appropriate for the current conditions.”
