A Steamboat Springs man was recently arrested by Steamboat Springs Police for allegedly firing a handgun in the Sunlight Apartments. That’s moderate income housing through Yampa Valley Housing Authority on Hwy 40 and Elk River Road.
A bullet went through the person’s door from the inside, and through a hallway and then through a person’s front door across the breezeway area.
Steamboat Springs Police cleared out all units with adjoining walls and arrested 34-year-old Coulter Somes without incident. He is charged with Illegal Discharge of a Firearm which is a felony, and two misdemeanors which are Prohibited use of Weapons while under the Influence, and Reckless Endangerment.
Somes has a court date on March 21 for an Appearance on Bond.
