Thursday is the last day of school for all Steamboat Springs 8th graders. It’s a class of about 180 kids. Half of the class is on a raft trip Wednesday. The other half will go Thursday.
Those not on the raft trip get to do a dunk tank both afternoons. Jackson Schutt was the first to dunk his teacher, Mr. Bender, on Wednesday with a simple strategy.
“Aim for the target.”
Then Charlie Ormescher came along to throw his pitch with Middle School principal Heidi Chapman-Hoy, hovering over the tank. Here’s both of them.
“I was trying to dunk my principal in a dunk tank.” “He’s been waiting to do it for the last three years. Right? Ha ha ha.”
The 8th graders are also touring Steamboat Springs High School where they will be freshmen next year.
