The 4-H National Shooting Sports Championships are ending today in Grand Island, Neb. where 724 competitors participated, representing 42 states.

Colorado’s .22 Small Bore Pistol Team placed third overall for the week. Team members included Teagan Herold from Routt County and Forrest Siminoe from Moffat County. Forrest also placed 6th overall individually, out of 62, for the competition. Teagan was first in the 4-H State Championships last August in .22 Pistol.

Other athletes competing were Tate Kerchal in Shotgun Trap (11th) and Brook Wheeler in Recurve Archery 3D (3rd), both from Moffat County.

The Colorado Compound Archery team took first place on Tuesday. The Muzzle Loading 50-yard Bullseye team finished third on Tuesday. The Compound Archery Field Team placed second overall on Wednesday. The Air Pistol Slow Fire Team was first overall on Thursday.

The Colorado Pistol Small Bore team was coached by Rick Kirby of Routt County, who has been the South Routt Shooting Sports Coach for 14 years. This includes teaching .22 pistol, .22 rifle, air pistol and air rifle. This is Kirby’s third time serving as the 4-H National Pistol Team Coach for Colorado.
