“That’s a very exciting time for the organization, for me as a new leader, you see those sign-ups coming in and we serve over 1,000 kids. Seeing all that come in, and our teams fill up, and the coaches get excited, we’re literally off to the races in a few months.”

Winter Sports Club has over 50 programs, with all levels of winter sports disciplines and commitment levels. There are programs like Tiny Toots for three- and four-year-olds. All second graders learn to ski or ride. SSWSC also partners with Integrated Community and the Mark Satkiewicz Dirt to Snow Legacy Fund to introduce Spanish speakers to skiing and snow sports.

Steamboat Springs Winter Program Registration Opens August 1, 2023

Multiple scholarship opportunities are available at all levels

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Winter program registration for Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club opens on August 1, 2023 at 7 a.m. SSWSC offers over 50 programs with a wide range of winter sports disciplines and commitment levels. From skiers as young as three years old to high school and postgraduate athletes competing at national and international levels, there is something for everyone. Athletic training is offered in alpine, cross country, freeskiing, nordic combined, ski jumping, freestyle moguls, and snowboarding, as well as strength and conditioning, cycling, and skateboarding. SSWSC offers a simple one-step income-based EZ Scholarship for program fees as well as additional scholarships based on financial need and athletic achievement. Nearly $450,000 was awarded to SSWSC athletes during the 2022-2023 winter season, with 523 athletes receiving scholarships. SSWSC’s generous community donors continue to support scholarship funds with the goal that any local child can participate in our programs at any level and receive the financial support they need.

For information on programs and registration, visit www.sswsc.org.

SSWSC provides sports and youth development programming for over 1,300 athletes annually in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, creating champions on and off the mountain.

SSWSC’s goal is to be the best in the country at developing the complete athlete—coaching every individual to achieve the highest level of human potential and athletic performance—resulting in healthy, contributing members of our community and skilled, passionate athletes.

In addition to the scholarships, SSWSC provides opportunities for all youth in Steamboat Springs to ski and ride at no cost. Through programs like the Ski Town U.S.A Initiative, in partnership with Mountain Valley Bank, every Steamboat Springs School District second grader has the opportunity to learn to ski and ride, with two days of coaching instruction during the school day. Christy Sports provides the equipment, transportation is coordinated with the school district, Smartwool provides socks, and the City of Steamboat Springs provides complimentary lift access to all students participating in the program.

The partnerships and offerings to Steamboat youth continue to expand each year. For the second year, SSWSC partnered with Integrated Community and Mark Satkiewicz Dirt to Snow Legacy Fund to provide ski lessons to even younger ages. The program was designed to introduce native Spanish speakers to skiing and snow sports and integrate them into the Ski Town U.S.A. community.

The program enrolls kids in SSWSC’s Tiny Toots program geared toward three- and four-year-olds and kids will move up to the Little Toots program.

And last year, SSWSC enrolled kindergartners in the Listo Para Ski program offering cross country skiing. More than 220 local Steamboat youth participated in free programs through SSWSC during the 2022-2023 winter season.
