Routt County Heat is On. Don’t Let End Of Summer Activities End In A DUI
(ROUTT COUNTY, COLO)
High-visibility enforcement efforts are happening in Routt County now through the first weekend of August. The Colorado State Patrol, Steamboat Spring Police Department, and the Routt County Sherriff’s office will be cracking down on impaired drivers.
“It’s our job to protect Coloradans. We will be out in full force to make sure impaired drivers stay off the roads. Even after a couple of drinks, you become a risk to yourself and others if you get behind the wheel.” Colorado State Patrol Chief Col. Matthew Packard said.
There have been an increase of impaired driver’s crashing this summer and we want to finish the summer off with reducing those numbers.
We will be focusing our enforcement throughout Routt County to help reduce the number of impaired drivers on the roadways. We will have extra patrols out during this weekend’s events looking for unacceptable driving behavior associated with impaired driving to include speeding, following too closely, and failing to drive in a designated lane.
Law enforcement urges everyone to plan ahead when participating in summer activities, never get behind the wheel drunk or high. Please remember that if you are planning on drinking or smoking marijuana to please designate a sober driver.
If you see a suspected impaired driver on the road, call 911 or *CSP to report impaired or dangerous drivers.
