Colorado Parks and Wildlife staff were seen stocking the Yampa River through Steamboat Springs with 40,000 fingerling trout on Thursday. The fish all came from the Rifle Falls Fish Hatchery. They dumped a bunch from the top of the 5th Street Bridge, and other spots along the river.
Friends of the Yampa has created a new app called Know Before you Go. You can find out river stats, weather, safety notes, and a lot more. It was created to help river users make the right decision about how to enjoy the Yampa River safely and responsibly.

The Yampa Valley Climate Crew is looking for 40 volunteers to restore wet meadows alongside the U.S. Forest Service in California Park. This is north of Hayden, in the area of Routt County near where the Rainbow gathering was held last summer. Erosion in the area has disconnected the wet meadows from the floodplain, which has decreased water retention and loss of wetland vegetation. The work on Aug. 5-6 will help with drought mitigation and wildlife habitat. More information is at YVSC.org
