Nine candidates have filed petitions to run for Steamboat Springs City Council on the November 7th ballot. Planning Commissioner Bryan Swintek will run unopposed in District 1. Incumbent City Councilor Michael Buccino will also run unopposed in District II.
Three people are running for District III which is the area near the ski area, Mt. Werner Circle and Walton Creek neighborhoods. They are Amy Dickson, Jeff Liter, and Walter Magill.
Four petitions have been filed for the at-large seat which represents the entire city. Those running are John Agosta, Robert Galorath, Daryl Levin, and Steve Muntean.

Nine Candidates File Petitions for City Council
Election Day Is Tuesday, November 7, 2023
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-August 31, 2023-Nine candidates for seats on the Steamboat Springs City Council have submitted petitions to have their names on the November 7 ballot. The City Clerk has accepted all nine petitions.
Districts I & II will see a candidate each running unopposed. District III and the At-Large contests offer a different story with several candidates vying for the district seat.
Planning Commissioner Bryan Swintek is seeking to serve District I and incumbent City Councilor Michael Buccino is looking to continue his District II representation. Four-year terms accompany District seats. District I is generally the downtown area, Colorado Mountain College, and west Steamboat Springs. District II generally encompasses Fish Creek Falls, Hilltop Parkway, Anglers, The Sanctuary, Burgess Creek, Barn Village, and the Yampa Valley Medical Center.
In District III, Amy Dickson, Jeff Liter, and Walter Magill have filed candidate petitions. District III generally covers areas south of Central Park Drive, Mt. Werner Circle, Steamboat Ski Resort Base Area, and Gondola Transit Center, including the Walton Creek neighborhoods.
The At-Large seat, which comes with a two-year term, has four petitions submitted from John Agosta, Robert Galorath, Daryl Levin, and Steve Muntean. The At-Large District represents the entire city and can come from any one of the three districts.
The newly elected Council members will take office at the first Regular City Council meeting following their election currently scheduled on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. During that same meeting, the new President and President Pro-Tem will be elected by the new council.
City Council districts were recently adjusted to equalize the distribution of qualified electors among the three districts per the city charter. The current map showing precincts within the three districts across the city can be found here.
The general election, administered through the Routt County Clerk & Recorder, is set for Tuesday, November 7, 2023. The coordinated election will include candidates for Steamboat Springs City Council, Routt County Board of Commissioners as well as several ballot questions.
