Nine candidates have filed petitions to run for Steamboat Springs City Council on the November 7th ballot. Planning Commissioner Bryan Swintek will run unopposed in District 1. Incumbent City Councilor Michael Buccino will also run unopposed in District II.
Three people are running for District III. They are Amy Dickson, Jeff Liter, and Walter Magill.
Four petitions have been filed for the at-large seat which represents the entire city. Those running are John Agosta, Robert Galorath, Daryl Levin, and Steve Muntean.

The Old Town Hot Springs still does not have all of the permits needed from the City of Steamboat Springs to start construction on the lap pool. The lap pool will now be open through mid-September.
The Steamboat Springs School District and South Routt School District have both been recognized as a district that is Accredited with Distinction by the Colorado Department of Education
Dr. Kirk Henwood is the new Superintendent for the South Routt District.
“South Routt School District is super excited to be recognized as a school district that is Accredited with Distinction. Part of our goal is to continue to improve.”
Staff members in the South Routt District all received a pair of maroon and white socks with Rams on them that say, “South Routt socked it out of the park.”
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS AND SOUTH ROUTT SCHOOL DISTRICTS RECOGNIZED BY COLORADO DEPARTMENT OF EDUCATION
Friday night is a big football game at Gardner Field, when the Steamboat Sailors host the Moffat County Bulldogs from Craig. Here is Sailor Sophomore Lloyd Warren.
“The Bulldogs are our biggest rival. We need the entire town to come out and stick it to the Bulldogs.”

Soroco is on the road against Gilpin County Friday at 7 p.m.
Oak Creek is the place to be for the Labor Day Weekend, with all kinds of fun every day. We have a schedule on the Community Calendar on our website. The Labor Day Parade in Oak Creek starts at 11 a.m. Monday. After that, head over to Decker Park for Pie @ the Park and fun games for all.
The Humane Society of Moffat County and Gino’s Pizzeria & Grill present Pets, Pints, and Pies. Animals will be on-site and available for adoption with proceeds going to the humane society. Then Sunday is the Rocky Mountain Bull Bash at Romick Rodeo Arena. This is top professional bull riders from around the world competing for big prize money. Gates open at 3 p.m. for BBQ and a full bar, and the dirt flies at 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available at the Steamboat Chamber or F.M. Light & sons.
