Sunlight Neighborhood Slope Repairs Require Closure
Sunlight Drive Closure Anticipated to Run Four to Six Weeks
STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-September 29, 2023-Sunlight Drive, a primary way to access the Sunlight neighborhood on the hilltop above, is closed for the next four to six week as Native Excavating conducts repairs to the slope and sidewalks along the roadway.
Slope failures along several sections of the road have occurred, which also caused the undermining of several sections of sidewalk. The sidewalk will be removed, the slopes repaired, and the sidewalk reconstructed. This is associated with the Phase 2 work for the Sunlight private development project.
Native was recently issued a permit for the work and approval for the street closure. The project is scheduled to be complete by the end of October or early in November.
During the road closure, the Sunlight neighborhood can be accessed through a secondary access way via an unmarked detour along Indian Trail to US40. Motorists should expect increased traffic at this intersection over the next month.
