Watch the weather. Friday night is when it is bad with snow, maybe some rain at lower elevations, into Saturday and Saturday night. Should clear up by the afternoon on Sunday. Roads can be slippery. Travel can be difficult.

HAPPY HALLOWEEN 2023

Halloween fun is underway in the Yampa Valley. There is a link on our website with everything happening Halloween in Routt and Moffat Counties. Look for the three pumpkins and click on that. Here is a quick mention of a few.

The Perry-Mansfield play of Frankenstein Slept Here is tonight and tomorrow.

Monster Mash presented by United Way of the Yampa Valley is tonight at the Grand.

The Zombie Invasion at Amaze’n Steamboat starts tonight behind the Chamber Visitor Center in Steamboat. Family Day there is Sunday afternoon.

SCREAMBOAT at CMC starts tonight, from 6-10 p.m.

CMC’S SCREAMBOAT WILL FILL YOU WITH FEAR AGAIN THIS YEAR

The Hayden Hall of Horrors is new this year, and it starts Saturday evening and runs through Halloween at the Routt County Fairgrounds in Hayden.

Soroco Elementary in Oak Creek is hosting a Halloween Carnival. It’s from 4-7 p.m. on Saturday.

Big O Tires hosts Trunk or Treat from 1-3 p.m. Saturday in Craig.

That is the same time as Hike or Treat at Yampa River State Park tomorrow, just west of Hayden.

Another Trunk or Treat is at the Hayden Congregational Church from 4-6 p.m. Sunday in Hayden.

Young kids can trick or treat from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at Hill Hall at the CMC campus in Steamboat.

There are THREE Witches Nights Out in Steamboat and Hayden and those details are all on that list. The link is below.

Colorado State Patrol says the scariest thing at Halloween is The Drunk Driver. Don’t do it. CSP is out there with extra enforcement through Nov. 1. They say a DUI could cost you over $13,500, your license, your job, your freedom, and possibly your life.

Football..

Moffat County is at HOME at 7 p.m. Friday vs. Grand Valley for Senior Night.

Nick Colgate is the head coach of the Moffat County Bulldogs, which has 12 seniors on the team.

“We have a lot of seniors and they have produced on offense this year. Pretty excited to see them on their senior year and on their way out of high school and make a statement on Moffat County Football.”

After the game, Moffat County High School and Middle School students are invited to Survivor Games. That’s in the gym, and hosted by Partners for Youth in Moffat County.

The BIG rivalry is Hayden, at Soroco at 7 p.m. tonight in Oak Creek. Here is Soroco Head Coach Casey Hill.

“Hayden is our Super Bowl. So no matter how the season goes, whether wins or losses, it pretty much culminates down to that Hayden game. Like if we can put together a good game and a good match, and come out on top, I mean, that makes our season.”

Soroco Senior Dorian Hotchkiss transferred to Soroco from Hayden, in middle school.

“Personally, it’s been a super big rivalry because they all are upset that I transferred schools and all that. And now, I am determined to do the best I possibly can and lead my team to beat them.”

The Routt County Agriculture Education program is inviting everyone to “Tailgating for Routt County Ag Ed.” It’s at 5 p.m. right before the game in Oak Creek tonight. It benefits the FFA chapters at both schools. Tickets are available in advance ($10 a plate) or at the door ($12 a plate), and $7 for kids ten and under. There will be samples of beef, pork, lamb, and goat.
