Steven O’Brien appeared in court Tuesday. He is the 65-year-old man from Littleton who was allegedly involved in a deadly crash just west of Steamboat Springs in late July, that killed local pre-school teacher Emily Tintrup Dealy. There are three felony charges of Vehicular Homicide, and two more felony charges of Unlawful Termination of Pregnancy, as Dealy was pregnant. There are eight other misdemeanor and traffic charges including Driving Under the Influence and Prohibited Use of a Weapon. District Attorney Matt Karzen says O’Brien posted bond of $250,000 cash last weekend. Judge Erin Wilson ordered him Tuesday to not use alcohol or controlled substances and he has to comply to alcohol monitoring out of Jefferson County. His next court date in Routt County is Jan. 23.

“I was informed of this million dollar challenge match grant on Veterans Day, which they had waited for deliberately. They wanted to make a big impression on that. And they want the rest of the community to loosen the purse strings and support this very worthy program which will provide services to all veterans in all five counties in northwest Colorado.

The donor of the $1 million match grant has asked to remain anonymous. The connection was made with help from the Yampa Valley Community Foundation.

Donations can be made through SteamboatVeterans.org

Rob Perlman, the COO of Steamboat Resort, also stopped by to drop off a check for $2,500 to The Veterans Center.

Car seats that are no longer needed can be donated to the Public Safety Center in Craig. That’s on First Street. Stop by the lobby and speak with anyone from Craig Police or Colorado State Patrol and they can take the car seats and get them recycled. And it’s all free.
