The SBT GRVL race organizers have been listening to suggestions from members of the rural Routt County community, who have been frustrated by the over 3,000 cyclists who clog the county roads on race day. One suggestion at the most recent meeting in Oak Creek was to create a page for rural residents on the SBT GRVL website. Race organizers have now done that. It’s called the Rural Community Resources page.  You can view the page here: https://www.sbtgrvl.com/routtcountyresources It’s under the STEAMBOAT tab.

Thanksgiving Day started with the annual 5K Turkey Trot. Steven Cornelius from Florida had the fastest time. The fastest female was Amanda Rego from Littleton. 689 Turkey Trotters participated this year, to benefit the Track & Field and the Cross Country teams at Steamboat Springs High School. That’s the highest number ever for the event. A full photo album of pictures is on the Steamboat Radio Facebook page.

Six hundred and 50 people showed up for the Community Thanksgiving Dinner Thursday afternoon, at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Volunteers helped with the food, serving, and clean up, all organized by United Way of the Yampa Valley. Here’s Kate Nowak.

“This is just a heart-warming time and holiday. Everybody is coming out from all over the country, much less all over our community, to enjoy really good home-cooked food. And everybody is just having a good time. You can see smiles all throughout the room.”

Mountain Valley Bank sponsors the Thanksgiving dinner.
