Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club Athlete Logan Grosidier is the Overall U16 Alpine National Champion

Grosdidier wins Super G, slalom, giant slalom and team event

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo. – Four athletes from the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club (SSWSC) U16 Alpine Team—Logan Grosdidier, Caley Goforth, Bella Fisher, and Mathew Kafka — qualified to compete in the U16 National Championships in Vail, Colorado, from March 31 to April 4. After a week of racing, Logan Grosdidier emerged as the undisputed victor, taking home gold in all four timed events, Super G, giant slalom, slalom, and the team parallel giant slalom and seventh in the SkillsQuest Assessment. Despite the spring conditions, with warm temperatures and sun, the race courses and venue remained in impeccable condition thanks to the outstanding efforts of the venue race crew at Vail.

Overall, the SSWSC team had a tremendous week, riding on the momentum from the recent triumphs at the U16 Rocky Central Championships. In addition to Grosdidier’s performance, Caley Goforth carved her way into the top echelons of every race with remarkable consistency and finished top 10 in every race. Goforth was 9th in Super G, 7th in giant slalom, 8th in slalom, and 7th overall for the U16 National Championship series. Bella Fisher also radiated confidence with each descent, showcasing unwavering determination that culminated in a commendable 21st-place finish in the slalom. Not to be outdone, Matthew Kafka displayed resilience and grit, overcoming recent challenges to secure a 14th-place finish in slalom and an impressive 5th place in the SkillsQuest Assessment, capping off the season on a high note.
