A wildland fire burned about 35 acres, about five miles north of Hayden Monday. No injuries and no structures were damaged.
West Routt Fire Chief Trevor Guire says a burn pile got out of control.
“Just be aware that as these brushes and these grasses come out from underneath the snow, they have not greened up, they have not brought any moisture out of the ground into them. And they are available fuels for file. Just be really careful with your open burns and your yard cleanup.”
West Routt Fire had help from Hayden Police, Routt County Road & Bridge and Routt County Sheriff’s office, the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office and Moffat County Office of Emergency Management, BLM, the Routt County Office of Emergency Management and the Mad Creek Module with the Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control.
