Don’t try to detour on 13th Street when coming eastbound into Steamboat. Work is being done on Highway 40/Lincoln Ave. The project manager says not to use 13th Street as a shortcut as they will be giving priority to the cars on Highway 40, starting Friday.

And when you’re on Hwy 40, remember to ZIPPER MERGE, and use both lanes up until the merge point.

They’re expecting big impacts through next week but the hope is to have most of the work that is causing the big delays done before Memorial Day when town starts getting busy for the summer.

The Marshall House could be yours, for free. It’s the first wood frame home ever built in Steamboat Springs, back in 1889. It’s on 12th Street between Lincoln and Oak. The property has been sold and the owners say anyone is welcome to try to move it, if you want it. Here’s David Josfan, the partner and owner of the property.

“We are really hoping that somebody would be able to have the land to move it to, and create a community benefit, to restore the history of the house, so we can have it as a benefit to the community. That would be wonderful.”

Josfan says the owners will help pay for the move if someone wants it, and a few people are interested, according to Caitlin Berube-Smith, the Historic Preservation Planner with the City. Send her an email if you’re interested. The deadline is June 10. cberubesmith@steamboatsprings.net
