27-year-old Dylan Wallace, who grew up in Steamboat Springs, died in a kayaking accident on the Arkansas River, north of Buena Vista last Thursday. Wallace was a 2015 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School.
A Routt County resident plead guilty of attempting to vote multiple times in the 2022 Routt County general election. 41-year-old Robert Anzulewicz of Steamboat Springs pleaded guilty to mail-in ballot/election fraud. He was sentenced to supervised probation and 20 days in jail. The Routt County Clerk & Recorder’s office identified the attempt to vote multiple times and the additional ballots returned by Anzulewicz were rejected. The ballot was then sent to the District Attorney’s office for investigation. Anzulewicz was registered as an unaffiliated voter, according to County Clerk Jenny Thomas, but voted Republican in the June 2020 primary.
Work continues on Hwy 40 throughout downtown Steamboat Springs. Expect eastbound and westbound alternating single-lane and median closures from 3rd Street to 13th Street.
Work continues on the passing lane on Highway 40 just north of Wolford Mountain Reservoir before Kremmling. Part of the road is unpaved there and the speed limit drops down to 40 mph.
Erika Pastor has been chosen to fill the vacant Trustee seat on the Oak Creek Town Board. Her term expires in April 2026.
Routt County Commissioners have a public hearing scheduled for Tuesday, June 11, regarding the Large Event Permit for the Tour de Steamboat charity bike ride. The meeting starts is 2:30-3:30 p.m. It’s in the commissioners hearing room in the Historic Routt County Courthouse. It’s open to the public.
The Summer Feeding Program in the Moffat County School District is underway with dates throughout the summer. This is for anyone 18 and under, with breakfast and lunches available at Sandrock Elementary and the Boys & Girls Club in Craig.
Details from the Moffat County School District:
- Parents Grab-and-Go runs until August 9, (closed July 1-5). Meals can be picked up on Tuesday and Friday from 10-11 a.m. at Sandrock Elementary.
- The Summer School feeding program is Monday-Thursday from June 10-July 25 and closes July 1-5. Breakfast is from 7:30 to 7:45 a.m., and lunch is from 11:30 a.m.-noon These meals are dine-in at Sandrock Elementary and for anyone who is 18 years old or younger.
- Boys and Girls Club is open June 10-August 9 and closed July 1-5. Monday-Friday Breakfast is at 8:30-9 a.m., and lunch is from 11:30 a.m.-12:10 p.m. Dine-in only at the Boys and Girls Club.
The most recent Leadership Steamboat group has wrapped up. This year’s class chose to create a Leadership Steamboat Alumni Association. Sasha Nations is part of this year’s group.
“Going forward, we are creating an area where we can have funds secured for future leadership groups to have capital to start up their projects.”
The group gathered all of the Leadership Steamboat classes at Mythology Distillery Friday. A website link has been set up through the Chamber’s website.

A large group of Tugboat Grill and Pub lovers gathered Friday, to say goodbye to the long-time Steamboat Springs bar and restaurant in Ski Time Square. The developer has indicated it will be demolished sometime this month.
Larry Lamb and his wife, Becky, were there. He said Tugboat was named after his partner’s cat.
Jerry and Brian Thornton were there.
“I met my husband Brian here, 44 or 45 years ago and my daughter said, ‘You’ve go to go to the Tugboat!’ She said, ‘You know, I wouldn’t be, I wouldn’t have existed if you didn’t meet dad so you’ve got to go,’ so here we are.”
Mike Kortas built the fireplace in the Tugboat.
“In October of 1972, my buddy, Roger Olson and I built the fireplace in there and I spent many an afternoon and evening in here.”
T-Barr and his wife also attended, and lived in what he called the “Triangle,” also working in the building.
“Hey, I’m T-Barr. Been here since ’75. Living in the Triangle. Tugboat, Dos Amigos, Mattie Silks. Nothing like it. Party all night and all day long. It was fun.”
