Turn in your primary ballots, but only turn in ONE. Here’s Routt County Clerk & Recorder Jenny Thomas.
“If you are an unaffiliated voter, you’ll receive both a Republican and a Democratic ballot. You can only vote and return one. If you vote and return both ballots, your vote is disqualified and neither will count.” The Primary Election Day is Tuesday.”
Ballots must be received by 7 p.m. next Tuesday, June 25.

The Colorado Water Quality Control Commission has voted to designate about 278 miles of Outstanding waters along tributaries of the Yampa River. The designation will protect streams from future degradation including pollution from development, mining, oil and gas extraction, and other uses. Instead, the water quality will continue to benefit the environment, wildlife, and recreation.

An extensive renovation has been underway in Toponas, in South Routt County. And they’re having a big dinner and dance to celebrate. Toponas Hall was relocated next to an old lettuce shed. It was originally built in the early 1900s when the area was known for its lettuce production. The Toponas Hall is a longstanding gathering place for the community in Upper Egeria Park and that’s where the big dance and dinner is this Saturday night.
Here’s Kelly Gates who is the president of the Toponas Community Club.
“Historically, they used to have community dances. And the old-timers came from all directions. North Routt, South Routt, Burns. It was the meeting place. They had baseball games and a rodeo. The Community Club was the gathering social place for this end of the valley.”
All are invited to the dinner and dance with live music from Jarrod Sterrett and The Hired Guns at the Community Club this Saturday. Information is on the Community Calendar on our website. Any donations can be made to: Toponas Community Club, P.O. Box 222, Toponas, CO 80479
