A fire crew from Oak Creek Fire Rescue is on its way to Southern California to help out. The firefighters are taking a Type 3 Engine and they’ll be gone for two weeks. Once they get there, they’ll get assigned to an area to watch for any wildfires that may start up.
It’s a day for some important meetings.
In Craig this afternoon, there is a Public Utility Commission Hearing for all Craig and Moffat County residents. The commission wants public comment on an application filed by Tri-State for approval of its Electric Resource Plan. The plan covers from 2024 to 2043. The meeting today is from 3-7 p.m. in the auditorium at Moffat County High School.

The Craig Urban Renewal Authority meets late this afternoon in Craig City Hall Council Chambers.
Craig City Council also meets tonight. Keisha Bickford has a presentation from the Moffat County Library on funding. They’ll be asking the City of Craig to provide funding to support the Craig Branch Library with $30,000 annual to fund two part-time positions so that the library in Craig can be open full time. Craig Police Chief Mike Cochran will also present on dispatch services for the Craig Police Department that are provided by the Colorado State Patrol’s Communication Center. Right now, those services at night are being done by the CSP Communication Center in Alamosa because of staffing.
The tomorrow in Craig, there is a retirement party for Moffat County Attorney, Rebecca Tyree. It’s in the Emerson Room at the courthouse at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Becky has been with Moffat County for just over 12 years. Her last day is Thursday (July 11).
Neighbors in North Routt County are holding a meeting tonight about the SBT GRVL bike race. It’s at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 9, at the Moonhill Schoolhouse in North Routt.
Then Thursday, the SBT GRVL ride is hosting an informational session for all rural community members. It’s from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Hayden Granary, 198-200 East Lincoln Ave. in Hayden. You may also join virtually. Link to join virtually
Also tomorrow (Wednesday, July 10) there is an Open House for General Contractors at 11:30 a.m. It includes lunch. The Open House is in the Community Room at the Combined Law Enforcement Facility, 2027 Shield Drive, in Steamboat Springs. Wednesday morning is also Coffee with Cops, presented by the Steamboat Springs Police Department. It’s from 8:30-10 a.m. at Causeway Coffee, 427 Oak Street. Ask questions voice your concerns, and share some compliments.
