A memorial service has been scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon for Jesse Hamric. It’s at the Steamboat Christian Center. Hamric died on July 4 from some sort of electrical shock in a lake in Virginia, where he was vacationing with his family. The grand opening for the new 8th Street housing townhomes in Craig is from 1 to 6 p.m. today and then 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Craig Housing Authority has the information on how to qualify. Construction on the townhomes should be complete by mid August.

In bowling, Alex Velardo of Craig is competing in the Junior Gold Championships in Detroit, Michigan. It starts today. This is a national tournament for youth bowlers held every July. He is one of 20 youth bowlers attending from Colorado.
