A memorial service has been scheduled for 12:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon for Jesse Hamric. It’s at the Steamboat Christian Center. Hamric died on July 4 from some sort of electrical shock in a lake in Virginia, where he was vacationing with his family. Hamric was a 2024 graduate of Steamboat Springs High School where his dad is the principal.  The Booster Club has posted to fly your Steamboat Sailor flags in support of the Hamric Family. The grand opening for the new 8th Street housing townhomes in Craig is from 1 to 6 p.m. today and then 9 a.m. to noon Saturday. Craig Housing Authority has the information on how to qualify. Construction on the townhomes should be complete by mid August.

 

 

Art in the Park is one of the largest arts festivals in Northwest Colorado that draws 130+ artists from around the country displaying a wide variety of hand-made art. This family-friendly festival is free to the public and features live entertainment, delicious food vendors, beer tents, interactive creative stations, a children’s area, and opportunities to win great prizes.  It’s July 13-14 in West Lincoln Park. The Friends of the Yampa and the City of Steamboat Springs will be hosting a Yampa River clean up event on Saturday, July 13, to ensure the river ecosystem stays clean and tidy. It’s all the way from the Chuck Lewis State Wildlife area to the Steamboat KOA campground. Hayden Daze is today and Saturday at Dry Creek Park in Hayden. There’s live music, yoga, cornhole, inflatables, face painters, and all kinds of fun. And it’s free. The fun is from 6-10 p.m. on Friday and 8 a.m. through the afternoon on Saturday.

 

Longtime locals are invited to the Pioneer Picnic at Mt Harris, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13. It’s free to those who want to attend. There will be door prizes, speakers, and walking tours. Bring a side dish or dessert to share.

 

Homemade Homegrown Home Brew Contest is Saturday, July 13, in downtown Craig. It’s brought to you by the Craig Downtown Business Association. Tickets are available at KS Kreations.

 

On Sunday, the 1st Annual BBQ, Beers, and Bags Cornhole Tournament is at 11 a.m. Sunday, July 14. Check in is at 10:30 a.m. at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. In bowling, Alex Velardo of Craig is competing in the Junior Gold Championships in Detroit, Michigan. It starts today. This is a national tournament for youth bowlers held every July. He is one of 20 youth bowlers attending from Colorado.
