A large quilt featuring businesses and leaders in Craig and Moffat County has been given to the city. Lisa Montague designed the quilt with businesses and signatures from owners.
“It says up on top Craig and then it’s got the county, Moffat. And then what I did was I put in the middle, the mayor, and then I branched it out from there. The sheriff, the chief, the captain, the commissioners, the councilors, the judges, the district attorney, schools, the swimming pool, Moffat County High School, the churches, and then all of the local businesses.”
There are 143 squares on the 11 x 13’ quilt. Montague says it took her about five months to make it and then another month to gather the signatures.
Craig Mayor Chris Nichols accepted the quilt this week with City Manager Peter Brixius, who says he isn’t sure where it will hang but that it will probably travel around town, maybe to the Craig Chamber, the Museum of Northwest Colorado, and possibly to the county.
They’re calling it the “Unity Quilt.”
