A Winter Storm Warning continues through mid-day today. The National Weather Service says the heavy snow today will taper off this afternoon and evening. Conditions will dry out for Thursday and we’ll see some sunshine, but travel may still be difficult in spots. National Weather Service Forecast

There is an Avalanche Watch in effect through this evening, for the Park Range and Flat Tops. Heavy snow and strong winds will result in large avalanches that can be easily triggered.

Steamboat Springs Fire Rescue will be doing some prescribed burns of slash piles on Emerald Mountain. It will be sometime during the Thanksgiving holiday and early December, depending on the weather conditions. Burns will only happen when ventilation conditions are good to excellent, or it is actively snowing. Please avoid the burn areas when it’s happening.

The 2024 Steamboat Springs 5K Turkey Trot starts at 9:30 a.m. Thanksgiving morning. Because of the storm, there will NOT be packet pickup tonight. Instead, pick up race bibs and timing chips starting at 8 a.m. Thursday morning at Steamboat Springs High School. This is a race/funrun/walk for friends, families, visitors and dogs that starts and ends at Steamboat Springs High School. Bundle up but feel free to wear your best Thanksgiving Day Costume. Sign up at RunSignUp.com and look for the Steamboat Springs Turkey Trot. Bring something to share for the LiftUp Food Bank.

The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner in Steamboat Springs is from 1-5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 28, at the Steamboat Springs Community Center. Join friends and neighbors for a delicious turkey dinner with all the traditional sides. The dinner is FREE for everyone in Routt and Moffat counties and sponsored by United Way of the Yampa Valley, Mountain Valley Bank, and Steamboat Resort. Volunteers and food donations are needed.

Trash service will not be provided in Craig on Thursday, Thanksgiving day. Trash pickup will be on Friday.

The Upper Yampa Water Conservancy District (UYWCD) wants feedback from Yampa Valley residents in a Community Survey. The survey is intended to identify areas of concern around water matters in the Yampa River Basin to help inform the strategic plan and future planning efforts of the UYWCD Board of Directors. A link to the survey is on our website.
