Colorado 4-H Day at the Colorado State Capitol was Monday. Local 4-H groups were represented with high school students from Routt, Rio Blanco, Grand, and Jackson counties, as well as all over the state.

Students met with Governor Polis, Agriculture Commissioner Kate Greenburg, Representative Meghan Lukens, and Senator Dylan Roberts.

“4H Day at the Capitol is always a great time to promote agriculture in Colorado and it was so exciting to have so many kids from Routt County down here to visit with us and talk about the great work that they’re doing.”

That is Senator Roberts. Eleven students were at the State Capitol from Routt County,  including Tula Bringuel, Amelia Hagenbuch, Trevor Hagenbuch, and Emily Rossi.

Casey’s Pond Senior Living has checked in after 120 days of new ownership. There are currently 126 residents, any open staff positions have been filled and Casey’s Pond is thriving, according to the press release. An advisory committee, which is a subcommittee of the Northwest Colorado Health Board, continues to meet regularly to act as ambassadors of Casey’s Pond.

The Advisory Committee consists of three Northwest Colorado Health board members, the CEO and vice chair of YVCF, and four members of the broader community with relevant experience in law, business, and health care policy and systems management.

The Routt County Sheriff’s Department has been awarded a $9K grant for a new thermal imaging FLIR SIRAS drone. It is especially helpful with search and rescue operations. The grant is from the Colorado Bureau of Investigation.

 

The Routt County Humane Society is asking for the community’s support in raising $4,000. It’s to get a new commercial-grade dryer to help with an extensive daily laundry load. The Humane Society also needs to order outdoor security cameras for the facility. Donations can be made through RouttHumane.org  Write “Dryer and Security cameras” in the comments.

The Routt County Board of County Commissioners have a regular meeting today. Yampa Valley Regional Airport director Kevin Booth is on the agenda. AGENDA

 

Applications are now open for the UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center Medical Staff Scholarship. It is for graduating seniors in Routt and Moffat counties, who are pursuing an education in health care. Four scholarships, each for $2,500, are available. It’s funded by the physicians and providers associated with UCHealth Yampa Valley Medical Center. Applications are available online and are due April 15.

The South Routt School district is sharing the new Master Facilities Plan. The meeting is from 6:30-8 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 28 in the High School cafeteria in Oak Creek. Information will be shared followed by a brief tour.

 

You’re invited to a Sip & Paint Fundraiser, hosted by Women United and United Way of the Yampa Valley. It is from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 28, in Library Hall at Bud Werner Memorial Library. Enjoy food, friends and drink while painting a piece of art. Tickets are $125, with $100 of that tax deductible. All proceeds benefit local families in need through the Community Baby Shower.
