The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners meets at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday morning.
Stacy Morgan will report from the Clerk and Recorder’s Office, about a settlement with the Fort Orange Press. That is the printing company that printed flawed ballots last November for the election. Those ballots were unscannable and each one had to be tallied by hand with multiple witnesses for each ballot.
“They just owned up to their mistake and it makes me feel good. And for the citizens of Moffat County just to know that they’re going to make it whole again.”
Details have not yet been finalized but Morgan says Fort Orange Press has agreed to pay for the extra costs, whether it’s a payment or credit for future elections. That will be discussed at Tuesday’s Commissioner meeting.
Morgan read part of the letter that she received from Fort Orange Press.
“You have trusted in myself and Fort Orange Press and we clearly did not meet your expectations and take responsibility for failing Moffat County. Please know that the printing mistake that occurred had nothing to do with the competency of you or your staff’s ability related to interacting or giving direction to Fort Orange Press.”
Morgan says she may request bids from more vendors for the next election.
Todd Wheeler will also report from Office of Emergency Management about ambulance and emergency medical services within Moffat County.
