The local Special Olympics team has recently competed in state competitions at Ski Sunlight and Copper Mountain.Melissa Pollack is the coordinator for Team SOSY, which is Special Olympics Steamboat and the Yampa Valley.
“The team did so amazing. They all raced and did great and I’m so proud of every single one of them.”
About a dozen athletes attended the events. They represent Steamboat Springs and Hayden.
Results are below from the state championships in Copper Mountain, where they competed in slalom and giant slalom.
The athletes competing are: Scott Bjorgum, Drew Boglioli, Anastasia Dronen, Misty Garcia, Rhianna Gifford, Katherine Henderson, Nicholas Jenrich, Jamie Kaminski, Logan McLaughlin, Hudson Powell, Luka Russell, and Nevaeh Smith.
Four more are on the SOSY Snowshoe team and they all received gold medals this season. They are: Heidi Brumleve, Jeffery Dockstader, Donnie Pearce, and Mandy B.
