Green Day has been honored with the 2,810th star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The band – comprised of Tré Cool, Billie Joe Armstrong and Mike Dirnt — received their star in the category of Recording.

Actor Ryan Reynolds, producer Rob Cavallo, former MTV host Matt Pinfield and rapper Flavor Flav attended the ceremony to support the band. Reynolds attributed the band’s longevity to a mix of respect and integrity, sharing in a speech: “Even though I’ve only known them a short while, it’s beyond rare for a band to stay together the way they have, as a unit.” Green Day have been together since 1986.

Walk of Fame producer Ana Martinez in a statement: “Green Day’s music has not only inspired generations but also served as the soundtrack to our lives. Honoring them with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame is a token of our appreciation for their incredible contributions to the world of music.”

The five-time Grammy Award winners have released 14 albums and sold more than 75 million records. They released their breakout album “Dookie” in 1994, which sold over 10 million copies and earned the Grammy for Best Alternative Album. In 2004, Green Day released the rock opera “American Idiot,” selling more than 8 million copies in the U.S. alone and taking home the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album.
