Steamboat Soccer Club’s U18 Boys Capture Colorado Presidents Cup Title, Advance to Far West Regionals in Boise, Idaho
Steamboat Springs, CO — Steamboat Soccer Club’s U18 Boys team has made history, winning the Colorado Presidents Cup Championship with a thrilling 2-1 victory over Fort Collins Arsenal on Sunday, May 4, at Aurora Sports Park. The victory secures the team a place in the US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup Regional Championships, to be held June 13–17 in Boise, Idaho, where they will compete against top teams from across the western United States.
The state title is the result of a remarkable run by a team built from a mix of U15 to U18 players, competing up in the U18/19 division. Their success highlights not only their talent and perseverance but also the club’s emphasis on character, team culture, and long-term player development.
“This group bought in from the start,” said Head Coach and Technical Director Hobey Early. “Their commitment, desire, and trust in one another is what made this championship possible.”
Among the many standout players was senior Nolan Laird, named team MVP for his leadership, consistency, and impact throughout the tournament.
“Nolan has truly left a legacy with our club,” said Early. “He represents everything we value—work ethic, humility, and passion.”
This championship reflects a broader momentum for Steamboat Soccer Club, a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving youth players throughout Northwest Colorado. With over 750 players enrolled in recreational, competitive, and academy programs, the club has seen rapid growth in recent years, driven by a focus on high-quality coaching, inclusivity, and community connection.
“This win is a proud moment not just for the players, but for our entire Steamboat soccer community,” said Linda John, Club Director. “It shows that players from a small mountain town can compete—and win—at the highest levels of youth soccer in Colorado.”
