Steamboat Springs City Council meets for a work session and meeting tonight. The work session is on Fiscal Sustainability regarding the Vacancy Tax and Lift Tax. There is also a report on Steamboat Springs Transit Winter service.
A Steamboat Springs pastry chef has been chosen to compete on the USA Pastry Team at a national competition in Chicago in September. Sarah Helzer is a classically trained pastry chef from Ohio, now based in Steamboat Springs.
Helzer has been working locally at The Nomadic Table and Primrose.
“I am definitely looking forward to the opportunity to really showcase everything that I have learned so far in my career. It is definitely an honor to be selected to compete and I look forward to the opportunity to really showcase what we can do with pastry.”
Of the nine people competing in Chicago, three will then go to Lyon, France, for the world pastry championships. Of those three representing the United States, one will compete in the category of sugar, one in chocolate, and one in ice. A fourth will serve as an alternate.
