Here is this week’s update for work that continues just west of Steamboat Springs at Downhill Drive and U.S. Highway 40.

Concrete will be poured this week for the curb, gutter, and sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection, and prep work will be done on the northwest corner. The section of Downhill Drive will be closed for about four months but businesses there will remain open. The speed limit is 30 miles per hour and traffic is intermittently reduced to a single lane. Motorists Should Plan For:

• Crews will be working on the storm water culverts on the north side of US 40.
• Crews will be pouring concrete for the curb, gutter and sidewalk on the southeast corner of the intersection.
• Prep work for concrete sidewalk, curb and gutter will be taking place on the northwest corner of the intersection.
• The Downhill Drive closure for the reconstruction of the roadway will be in place for approximately four months. All businesses on Downhill Drive will remain open. NAPA, Colorado Sled Rentals (CSR) and Alpenglow can be accessed via the temporary access driveway off of US 40. Yampa Valley Tire Pros and El Charro can be accessed from US 40. Other businesses on Downhill Drive can be accessed via Radiator Road and a southbound turn onto Downhill Drive where flaggers will assist drivers into the work zone.
• All work is weather dependent.
• Vehicles will be reduced to a single-lane, alternating traffic intermittently in
  either direction, throughout the duration of the project on US 40, Riverside Drive
  and Downhill Drive.

Traffic Impacts:

• The speed limit will be reduced to 30 mph through the work zone. 12 foot width and 90 foot length restrictions are in effect.
• Business and resident access will remain open throughout the duration of construction with the potential for intermittent closures.
• There will be a full closure of Downhill Drive during the grading and reconstruction phase of the project.
