“It’s an honor that all these people took time out of their busy schedules to come out and wish me well. The airport is critically important to me, a big part of my life, and the improvements we’ve made over the past 10 plus years and the improvements that we have coming are exciting and I will remain engaged and watching closely. And I’m fully confident that our new airport manager, Tinneal Gerber, will, will do a great job and carry on with what we’ve got going.”

Booth served in the Air Force for 30 years and retired as a colonel in the Air Force in 2013. Tinneal Gerber is replacing Booth as Airport Director.

He confirmed that it is non-native and flesh eating, and they are watching it closely.

“This is a problem because if not treated, it could kill your cattle in seven to ten days and have a tremendous impact on your bottom line, so that’s why we’re watching, in order to protect ourselves from this pest.”

Woodall says the New World Screwworm Fly has made it to southern Mexico. A sterilized fly is being produced in Panama that can fight it, but he wanted ranchers to be aware.
