Those interesting in running for Steamboat Springs City Council can pick up a nominating petition at City Hall today, Aug. 5. Four City Council seats are up for election this year.

You’ll need signatures from at least 25 registered electors within your district, or if you’re running at-large. Paperwork needs to be turned in to City Hall before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, August 25.

Candidates must be 18 years old or older on the day of the election. You must have lived in your municipality for at least 12 consecutive months before the election.

A candidate information forum is at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 4 in Centennial Hall.

City Council Candidate Petitions Available August 5

Four City Council Seats Up for Election This Year

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO-July 17, 2025-The City of Steamboat Springs will release the nominating petition on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, for candidates seeking to run for Steamboat Springs City Council.

Applicants must fill out a candidate affidavit and a nomination petition signed by at least 25 registered electors within their district. The at-large petition may be signed by at least 25 registered electors from the entire city. Paperwork must be turned into City Hall (115 10th Street) on or before 5:30pm on Monday, August 25, 2025.

Four city council seats are open and will be voted upon during the regular election on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. These include:

  • District I (Precincts 11,12 & 13)………. Expires November 2031
  • District II (Precincts 14, 15 & 16)…….. Expires November 2031
  • District III (Precincts 17, 18 & 19)……. Expires November 2031
  • At-Large (All Precincts)…………………… Expires November 2027

Eligible candidates must be 18 years of age or older on the day of the election. They must have resided in the municipality for a period of at least 12 consecutive months immediately preceding the date of the election and must be a resident of the district that they will represent at the time the nomination petition is filed. The at-large candidate can reside anywhere within the city limits.

Compensation for City Council members is $1,124,08 per month; President Pro-Tem receives $1,311,86 per month; and the City Council President receives $1,497.04 per month. In addition, councilors participate in the city’s benefits program including health plans, active health benefit, life insurance and flex spending options. In addition, councilors receive a Howelsen Hill Family Ski Pass.

A candidate information forum and drawing by lot will be held on Wednesday, September 4, 2025 at 3pm in Citizens’ Meeting Room in Centennial Hall. An overview of the city will be provided as well as information on the candidate and election process. At the end of the form, a drawing by lot will be conducted to establish candidate names, as they are to appear on the ballot.

The newly elected Council members will take office at the first Regular City Council meeting following their election currently scheduled on Tuesday, November 18, 2025. During that same meeting, the new President and President Pro-Tem will be elected by the new council.

STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, COLORADO, 17 de julio de 2025. La ciudad de Steamboat Springs publicará el martes 5 de agosto de 2025 la solicitud de nominación para los candidatos que deseen postularse para el Concejo Municipal de Steamboat Springs.

Los solicitantes deben rellenar una declaración jurada y una solicitud de candidatura firmada por al menos 25 electores registrados en su distrito. La solicitud general puede estar firmada por al menos 25 electores registrados de toda la ciudad. La documentación debe entregarse en el Ayuntamiento (115 10th Street) antes de las 17:30 horas del lunes 25 de agosto de 2025.

Hay cuatro puestos vacantes en el consejo municipal, que se votarán en las elecciones ordinarias del martes 4 de noviembre de 2025. Estos son:

  • Distrito I (distritos electorales 11, 12 y 13)………Caduca en noviembre de 2031

Los candidatos elegibles deben tener 18 años o más el día de las elecciones. Deben haber residido en el municipio durante un período de al menos 12 meses consecutivos inmediatamente anterior a la fecha de las elecciones y deben ser residentes del distrito que representarán en el momento de presentar la solicitud de candidatura. El candidato general puede residir en cualquier lugar dentro de los límites de la ciudad.

La remuneración de los miembros del Concejo Municipal es de 1124,08 dólares al mes; el presidente interino recibe 1311,86 dólares al mes; y el presidente del Concejo Municipal recibe 1497,04 dólares al mes. Además, los concejales participan en el programa de prestaciones de la ciudad, que incluye planes de salud, prestaciones sanitarias activas, seguro de vida y opciones de gasto flexible. Los nuevos miembros del Consejo tomarán posesión de su cargo en la primera reunión ordinaria del Consejo Municipal tras su elección, prevista actualmente para el martes 18 de noviembre de 2025. Durante esa misma reunión, el nuevo consejo elegirá al nuevo presidente y al presidente interino.
