A few updates…

No charges have been filed against the 25-year-old man from Parker, Colo.,  involved in the fatal crash just south of Kremmling last month. Five members of one family were killed. Colorado State Patrol says it is still under investigation.

Remember the Pagan Motorcycle Rally in Oak Creek last month? It was originally thought that 700 riders would be at the gathering. It was the same weekend that the Crosho Fire was at its peak. The Routt County Sheriff’s Office says it ended up to be 30-40 people. They made five traffic stops, with one person stopped twice. And that person was arrested for DUI and DUR, which is Driving Under Revocation of a driver’s license.

Another mural is decorating Steamboat Springs. It’s on the outside of the Howelsen Tunnel, near the 9th Street Bridge. The ribbon cutting was Tuesday.

The mural has phrases in English and Spanish that say things like, “We’re in this together,” “Love your neighbors,” “It’s OK to have bad days,” and “You are beautiful and you matter.”

The mural was created by local artist Erin Branscum through the Leadership Steamboat Class of 2025 and the team at REPS which is Reaching Everyone Preventing Suicide. Here’s Olympia von Berg with the Leadership Class.

“We know that suicide and mental health is a big issue in our community, and after talking to various nonprofits including REPS and Mindy, who is the Executive Director for REPS, we decided that a mural would hopefully make a difference and that’s why we went with this theme and this project.”

The goal with the mural was to help establish the feeling of more hope and community in Steamboat. The Howelsen Tunnel is a popular commuting route.

Lucy Winslow with the Leadership Steamboat Class says, “We want this mural to spark inspiration with every passing and add more play back into our world.”
