A member of Colorado State Patrol has been arrested by the Colorado Springs Police Department. In a press release Wednesday, Luke Zellman joined CSP in March 2014 and worked his first duty station in Steamboat Springs before transferring to the Colorado Springs office in 2017. Zellman was arrested on a charge of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. No other details have been provided. He has been booked in the El Paso County Jail. He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Arrests and charges are merely accusations until and unless a suspect is convicted of a crime. All suspects and defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Fire Restrictions in Moffat County have now been reduced from Stage 2 to Stage 1, as of midnight today. The decision was made with the Moffat County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Little Snake Bureau of Land Management, Dinosaur National Monument, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service at Browns Park National Wildlife refuge.
The Routt National Forest has also returned to Stage 1 Fire Restrictions. This includes National Forest System lands located in Garfield, Grand, Jackson, Moffat, Rio Blanco, and Routt counties.
The White River National Forest and the Bureau of Land Management Upper Colorado River District, which includes the Colorado River Valley and Grand Junction Field Offices, will lift fire restrictions Friday.

Flags are covering the lawn of Yampa Valley Bank in Steamboat Springs today. That’s right along Hwy 40. It’s for the Flags of Honor and 9/11 Never Forget project, honoring those who lost their lives on 9/11, and the rescue professionals who were impacted. Local student groups and law enforcement all are participating. The flags will be removed tomorrow morning by students from Yampa Valley High School.

Yampa Valley Housing Authority has a board meeting at noon today. Pricing on the Cottonwoods at Mid Valley is on the agenda. The YVHA meeting is in the Community Room at the Routt County Department of Human Services Building at 6th and Oak.
The Moffat County Board of County Commissioners is meeting with Library Director Keisha Bickford and the Library Board of Trustees today, to discuss the Dinosaur branch of the library.
The Local Marketing District in Moffat County is meeting today in commissioners’ chambers. A discussion of marketing plans is on the agenda.
The Routt County Crisis Support team is hosting a fundraiser at Snow Bowl. It’s at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 11, featuring live music from Constant Change. The Routt County Crisis Support team provides support and guidance to community members, businesses and groups in the community during times of crisis or critical incidents. They also provide support to first responders in Routt County.

Road work continues on Pine Grove Road. Night work will be done tonight at the intersection at Pine Grove and Hwy 40. There will be turning restrictions in place and a detour. Please allow some extra time, follow the detours, and drive with caution near the work crews tonight.
Motorcyclists need to especially use caution this month. Colorado Department of Transportation says 165 motorcyclists were killed on Colorado roads last year with 33 of those deaths in September. Motorcycle deaths are up 57% since 2015. CDOT says follow the speed limit and wear a helmet. Last year 44% of motorcyclists killed in traffic crashes weren’t wearing a helmet.
The Steamboat Sailors Boys Soccer team has a home game at 6 p.m. tonight, at Gardner Field. The Sailors are hosting the Aspen Skiers. Listen on KTYV starting with pre-game at 5:30 p.m. Find the link to watch through our website.
The Sailors Boys Tennis team is away, with a match as the Aspen Golf and Tennis Club. The Moffat County Bulldogs Golf team is also away, playing Summit at Keystone Ranch.
