Tree trimming and the installation of holiday lights Monday morning on Lincoln Avenue hade many commuters frustrated. Calls were coming in of 40-minute delays to get from the west side of Steamboat Springs through downtown because one lane of Lincoln was closed. It’s something that happens every year. But city crews and SavATree are adjusting to the vocal frustrations by adding more crews to get the job done during less busy travel times. Work hours are changing to 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day.
The lights are going up between 3rd and 12th Streets through next Tuesday, Sept. 30. There will be some right-hand lane closures but limited to the specific block where work is being performed. Some sidewalks may also be closed. Work will not take place over the weekend. SavATree donates a third of the installation cost as a gift to the community.

LiftUp of Routt County has started a $5 million capital campaign to expand its Steamboat Springs facility. LiftUp has received a $2.5 million challenge grant to get the campaign started. A tax credit program will allow significant tax credits to those who donate $250 or more. Donations can be made through LiftupRC.org
LiftUP is hosting a free concert for the community at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 1 at SnowBowl featuring JR Adams’ new band Mr. Junior. It’s family friendly, and there is a suggested donation of $20 to help with the fundraising.
